English dominates global culture these days, but there are something like 6,500 total languages spoken across the world landscape.  Interestingly enough, 2,000 of those languages are used by fewer than 1,000 people. By far, the most popular language in the world is Mandarin Chinese.

The first words that most people seem to want to learn when starting up with a new language are curse words and body parts.  This seems to be pretty much universal (i.e. there’s nothing wrong with that), but if you want to class it up a bit and learn how to say “woman” in a few of the more popular languages in the world, our first original infographic is a great place to start.

If you REALLY want to impress and take it to the next level, this infographic also includes a phonetic guide that helps you speak the word, as well as a quick example showing you how to write “woman” in the top ten most frequently used global languages.

At the very least, this should be a helpful reminder that although it’s very popular, English is only the third most popular language in the world.  If you enjoy this infographic we absolutely encourage you to share it anywhere you’d like!  We’ll have a few more coming soon.

Edit- As I and our designer are not native speakers of Hindi, we missed a crucial spelling detail. If there’s one thing the internet is good for, it’s making the best of a truly global cultural environment. Fortunately, a new friend in Bengaluru, India was kind enough to provide a correction to our infographic:

Thanks for your message. Looks good There is a little correction required in Hindi spelling. It should be ‘ महिला ‘ Looking forward to more infographics. Please let me know if we can be of any help. Cheers, Impressive Infographics
